Explore Foods that Bring the Carolinas Together

Welcome cooks of all skill levels to the new Carolina Cuisine Network for classic Southeastern American recipes. In the Carolinas, we put the soul in Soulfood y’all. Our ancestors developed recipes that have been handed down and shared across America. No matter what part of the continental US you live in, you’ve heard of or eaten Southern country cooking. We’re talking about biscuits, corn bread, barbecued pork, peanuts, Calabash shrimp, yams, red rice, and grits, just to name a few. More recipes and articles are added here regularly. There’s so much good food to cook up as I write recipes to serve two or more people. Do you want to make homemade biscuits for your family this coming holiday season but don’t know where to start? You’ve come to the right website.

Here you’ll find recipes and articles on true Southern cooking from some of the first and oldest Colonial States in America, the Carolinas. The rich history of North and South Carolina combined with their international ports, people, and cuisine have influenced the nation. From the tea plantation and muscadine grape vineyards to hog farms, and field crops like okra, the Carolinas have blended to form the basis of Southern cuisine through old recipes. We have extended growing seasons or two growing seasons for some crops grown in our rich old Southern soil. These crops come together to make dishes we grew up eating, sharing, and celebrating over.

This collection of recipes from a professional local chef uses local ingredients, comes with simple instructions, and is designed for two or more servings. Visit the Get Connected page to comment or ask questions about recipes and menus.
